Vladi advises and defends regulated professionals named in civil and regulatory proceedings. She also prosecutes actions against regulated professionals on behalf of members of the public who have suffered losses due to a professional’s negligence or breach of fiduciary duty. Vladi regularly advances claims of alleged negligence against lawyers, and acts on disputes relating to lawyers’ compensation. She is experienced in the defence of claims against various types of healthcare providers governed by the Regulated Health Professionals Act. She also regularly advises clients regarding claims against real estate agents or brokers.
Vladi has been trusted by regulated professionals to advise them with respect to aspects of civil claims against them to which their professional liability insurance does not respond. In these cases, Vladi acts as co-counsel with the lawyers defending the insured claims to provide seamless and efficient representation.
Vladi has experience acting for both professional regulatory colleges and their members in professional disciplinary proceedings. She also advises members of the public who wish to pursue a regulatory complaint against a regulated professional.
Vladi’s work in this area includes:
- Bringing and defending claims against regulated professionals, including for negligence or breach of fiduciary duty
- Representing members of professional colleges with respect to inquiries, complaints, disciplinary proceedings, and licensing and registration matters (including with respect to candidates seeking to become members)
- Representing health professionals seeking reviews of the decisions of their regulatory colleges before the Health Professions Appeal & Review Board (HPARB), and other appeals and judicial reviews from professional regulatory decisions
- Assessments of fees under the Solicitors Act, and other types of disputes relating to lawyers’ compensation
